Standing Buddha Temple Phra Buddha Mongkol Maharaj
After visiting the four-faced Buddha shrine at San Phra Phrom and making our return on the Hat Yai Cable Car, it was time to continue our journey to the next stop – Standing Buddha Temple Phra Buddha Mongkol Maharaj (located next to the entrance to Hay Yai Cable Car).

This impressive and beautiful standing Buddha towers over the Songkhla Province. It is 20 meters tall (65 feet), weighs 200 tons, and was built in 1999 to celebrate the Sixth-Cycle Birthday Anniversary Of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (his 72nd birthday).
This image of Buddha has his right hand raised with forefinger and thumb touching each other This mudra gesture represents the discussion and transmission of the teachings by the Buddha.

Out front of the standing Buddha is the “Kho Hong Mountain Viewpoint” – a popular Instagram selfie spot (impressive flower displays) that gives breathtaking views of Songkhla Province.
