Drive to Beijing Airport (Capital)

After a wonderful few days in Beijing, it’s time to move on to Harbin, China. Our guide (Jessie) and driver made sure we left early enough to make our flight on time. We encountered heavy traffic, but in the end, our drive from downtown Beijing to Beijing Capital International Airport went well and smoothly.

Our guide, (Jessie), took great care of us and helped us check in all the way until we had to go through airport security. Our experience at Beijing Capital International Airport today went well with no issues.

Flight – Beijing to Harbin – China Southern Airlines

We had a smooth flight to Harbin on China Southern Airlines. It was a relatively short flight – flight time was only around 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Our in-flight meal was a bit interesting – a small bag lunch/dinner that consisted of a sandwich made from sticky rice and egg, a fruit snack, an orange, and bottled water.

We got an unexpected surprise when leaving the Beijing area – awesome aerial views of the Great Wall! I was lucky to capture a few cool pictures. The remaining views (before it got dark) were of vast snow-covered tundra (in all directions).

Harbin Taiping International Airport

Harbin Taiping International Airport (IATA: HRB, ICAO: ZYHB) is the international airport serving Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. The airport handled 20,431,432 passengers in 2018, making it the 20th busiest airport in mainland China.

Harbin Taiping Airport, formerly known as Yanjiagang Airport, is located about 37 kilometres (23 mi) southwest of the city of Harbin and was constructed in 1979 with further expansion between 1994 and 1997. It replaced the old Harbin Majiagou Airport that was originally built by the Japanese in 1931. In 1984, Taiping was upgraded to an international airport. Today, it serves as an important transportation hub for the northeastern region of China and is the largest airport serving Heilongjiang province.

Another great flight and easy transit through Harbin Taiping International Airport. We got our bags and quickly met up with our new guide (Sherry) and driver – who were waiting for us in the waiting area.

Now it was time to make our way to our hotel in Harbin (Harbin Splendent Hotel).
