Bangkok – Shangri-La Hotel

Bangkok – Shangri-La Hotel

Our last leg of our trip in Bangkok should be fun, our last 9 days will be spent at the Shangri-La Hotel on the Chao Phraya River (its across from “The Peninsula Bangkok” where we stayed a few times earlier).  I picked this hotel and its room based on its location and that the room has a balcony overlooking the river– for New Years Eve.  From what I read they have an impressive fireworks display over the river and this hotel should have a great view.

With our trip rapidly coming to an end (only 3 more days) we both agree that the Shangri-La Hotel has become our new favorite hotel for Bangkok.  It may not be the biggest room (compared to say The Peninsula – it was huge!) but a 19th floor balcony over looking the Chao Phraya River put it over the top!  It is a large hotel with 802 rooms that are located in two two adjacent towers, the Shangri-La Wing and Krungthep Wing.

We have spend many wonderful evenings sitting out on our balcony watching the activity on the river (numerous boats & dinner cruises going up and down river).  There are all sorts of liveliness coming from the surrounding hotels (such as many bands playing music and people having dinner along the riverside).  It has been a great way for us to wind down our final days in Bangkok – on top of ringing in the New Year – 2016!
