Shibuya Blue Cave Winter Illumination

Tokyo Winter Illumination 2019 | Christmas Light Show

This Winter Illumination got its start in the Nakameguro area of Tokyo in 2014.  In 2016, it moved to its current location of Shibuya.  Today, it’s one of the most popular and visited winter illumination events in Tokyo.  Last year saw over 2 million visitors in the month of December.

This year the 800 meters (2,624 feet) long display features around 600,000 Blue LEDs stretching between Shibuya Koen Dori and Yoyogi Park. The tree’s close proximity creates the effect of walking through a blue cave!

It is amazing!  You have to see it in person to get the full effect (and quite a challenge to photograph, I may add!).
