One Night In Bangkok | Flight To Chiang Rai
Arrival to Bangkok
We made it to Bangkok last night (Thursday) around 10 pm. Overall, our flights went well (New York JFK > Qatar > Bangkok), but we did have a 3-hour delay in Qatar (due to an issue with the plane). It was our first time flying to Qatar and was impressed. Nice planes and great service, also had some of the best food we’ve ever had while flying. Even to help make up for our 3-hour delay, the airline purchased breakfast for everyone at one of the airport restaurants.

Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport
Our first night in Bangkok was spent at the Suvarnabhumi Airport hotel (Novotel Bangkok). After we breezed through immigration, we walked directly from the airport to the hotel, checked in, and quickly went to bed. The worst part of coming to Thailand will always be the long flights over the ocean – it just wreaks so much havoc on your body. Cramped seating conditions and lack of sleep over a span of 20–30 hours will never be fun, no matter how you spin it.
Flight | Bangkok to Chiang Rai | Thai Smile Airlines
But after getting a good night’s rest, we were up and at ’em the next morning, with breakfast at the hotel and another quick check-in for our flight (on Thai Smile Airlines) to Chiang Rai. We had another great flight and arrival at Chiang Rai around Noontime.
Drive | Lanna Thai Villa Home Stay in Chiang Rai
We were greeted by Steve, owner of Lanna Thai Villa Home Stay in Chiang Rai. Lanna Thai Villa is located in the Thoeng District of Northern Thailand’s Chiang Rai Province and would be a place somewhat like a “Bed & Breakfast” except all the meals are provided. I plan to cover more about this place (and its owners) in a later post.
