Lawa La Pass

To get to Gangtey Monastery, we had to take a turn (right) off of the Lateral Road. I’m not sure the name of this road (was not able to find it) but is the only road that takes you to Phobjikha Valley where Gangtey Monastery and Black-Necked Crane Visitor Centre are located.

After a short time, we crossed over the beautiful Lawa La Pass. This pass may not be quite as exciting as say Dochula, but it still offered amazing views (north side and south sides). We stopped briefly to take some photos.

The top of the pass has been marked with stupa and prayer flags (in the center of the road). On the high side of the road, near a large prayer flag display, we found yaks grazing.

The south side of the pass offers beautiful views of what looks like the beginning edge of the Phobjikha Valley.
