Guan Yu Shrine Ko Samui

Guan Yu Shrine Ko Samui is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The shrine is located on the island of Ko Samui, in Thailand. Guan Yu was a Chinese general who lived during the Three Kingdoms period. He is revered as a god of war and peace. The shrine pays homage to Guan Yu and his accomplishments.

Guan Yu (100AD-819ADI, otherwise known as Yunchang, was born in the region of Xiezhou of Hedong (a sub-district of present-day of Yuncheng, Shanxi Province) and become a renowned general during the Three Kingdom era of China.

Due to his outstanding civil and military talents as well as his virtues of loyalty and righteousness, he has been revered as a God of War, and worshiped as bodhisattva in the Mahayana Buddhism and as a guardian deity in Taoism.

Lionized as a prominent example of Chinese civilization, his influences now extend national boundaries to Chinese communities all over the world and even the cultures across time and space.

Since his death, many Chinese people have respected him due to his high outstanding profile of integrity and worshiped him as one of the Gods from the grassroots through the emperors.
