Chiang Khong Thailand to Huay Xai Laos Mekong Border Crossing
Once the main border port on the Mekong River between Thailand and Laos (until the end of 2013), Chiang Khong Port now is still in use for locals transporting their goods (on sampan boats) to and from Laos (Huay Xai). At the end of 2013, the main Thai / Laos border port was moved to the Thai-Laos Friendship bridge 1 at Nong Khai.
