Las Vegas

Las Vegas Strip

New York-New York Las Vegas Hotel & Casino

We kept it simple today, had breakfast at Wicked Spoon at the The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas (very good!) an then got our exercise by walking the strip (6.6 miles today).  Weather so far has been awesome – cool mornings (around 50) and highs during day around 60-65.

So much has changed since we were here 17 years ago.  With the exception of a few new places, the main casinos are pretty much the same as they were in the past.  The big difference now is all of the vacant lots and older buildings that were around back then have been converted to bars and chain restaurants.  In some ways its sad to see things (like shown below) take over the cool old places from Las Vegas past.  It seems goal has been to turn Vegas into an amusement park type atmosphere much like Orlando, Fl..

They have also added a lot of landscape areas.  The strip is kept very clean and a great place for walking – nice wide sidewalks with several overhead pedestrian walkways over busy intersections.  Even though walking areas can be very crowded it seems to be very safe.
